It was always going to be a relatively busy summer at Ibrox. Even if Steven Gerrard reiterates that there won’t be any “wholesale changes”, we can expect some new bodies in the door. And some older ones to transfer out.
Whilst Rangers don’t need a summer clear-out they’ll certainly need to spruce things up a bit. All of the talk is about quality – players who can come in and immediately improve the first XI and squad.
Here’s a transfer update of the latest names said to be interesting Rangers this summer.

Nick Powell
The rumour that just will not go away. Rangers were said to be “very interested” in the former Manchester United man by prominent journalist Alan Nixon. He is available on a free with his contract expiring in June.
He has some very impressive numbers for Wigan this season in the Championship and would be a solid signing. A classy midfielder, he would bring goals and assists from that part of the pitch. As he has done for Wigan all season.
Josip Vukovic
We don’t know much about Josip Vukovic other than the combative midfielder is attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs. Currently of Portuguese side Maritimo, we were reportedly battling Chelsea for his services in February [originally A Bola].
Recent reports are now suggesting Lazio and Aston Villa are joining the race for the player’s signature [originally Calciomercato] in a £1m deal. Still only 26, could the Croatian contingent at Rangers convince the player his future is at Ibrox?
Uche Ikpeazu
A bit of a strange link, the imposing, powerful forward has shown flashes of his quality with Hearts this season. The Scottish Sun claimed that both sides of the Old Firm are chasing the former Cambridge United striker.
Should Alfredo Morelos move on in the summer, Rangers will certainly be looking to add another one or two strikers to the ranks. But is the big English striker of high enough quality?

Greg Stewart
Reports last week claimed that Rangers were on the verge of completing a deal for the Birmingham City forward [originally Daily Record]. A versatile striker who can play across the front three, he’s repeatedly done the business at this level.
But currently on-loan at Aberdeen, Stewart has struggled in the North East since rejoining them in January. In the first half of the season, he showed flashes with Kilmarnock of why he earned a big money move down south.

Ryan Kent
The one that we all want to get over the line. There’s been plenty of talk of inflated asking prices, with one even reaching £12m [originally the Express]. Rangers and Steven Gerrard have never been shy about their desires to keep Kent at the club.
Kent too has never been shy about saying he’d be interested in staying [originally Evening Times]. Can Rangers convince Liverpool to transfer the player at a knockdown price? Or will another year-long loan move be the perfect solution?
