Steven Gerrard confirmed today that Rangers want Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent to remain at the club.
The Rangers manager was speaking in his pre-match press conference looking forward to the match with Celtic.
In it, he faced questions about Kent’s reported £8-10m asking price which has split fan opinion. There were also reports the player is interesting Fulham [Scottish Sun]. But Gerrard was very clear about where he wants the player to be next season.
“Yeah I’ve read the rumours and the speculation,” Gerrard told the media “I’m not sure who’s put that price on Ryan, whether it’s his agent, whether it’s Liverpool. I’ve heard nothing on that.
“But my focus is on Ryan Kent being available for the weekend, I’m pleased he’s available. In terms of the future and moving forward, that decision’s out of my hands.”
A bright player with a bright future
The player is a raw talent but you can see the ability the youngster has. He has it in spades and the Liverpool loanee has reignited what was a stagnating career.
Managing Director Stewart Robertson also spoke about Rangers interest in the player at the ORSA Convention.
Still only 22, Kent has much to learn and plenty to grow as a player.
But Gerrard has made it clear to every party involved he believes he can do that in Glasgow. Even if he acknowledges any decision might not be down to him.

“Liverpool know we want him here, the player knows we want him here, his representation know we want him here, but in terms of the decision it’s not down to me,” said Gerrard.
“I wish it was but unfortunately it’s not.”
According to one leading manager turned pundit, Gerrard might even be powerless to resist the player moving somewhere very controversial indeed.
