There are times in Scottish football where one is stunned into silence by the utter ridiculousness of it. The latest comments Dumbarton Manager Jim Duffy made about Ryan Kent perhaps interesting Celtic was one such time.
Responding to a caller on Clyde Superscoreboard [originally aired 18.00 27/03/29] Duffy suggested Celtic might be tempted to bid on the player. Before we get into this, have a read at what Duffy said.
“He’s a Liverpool player and yes, he’s played for Rangers but he’s not a Rangers fan. He’s not been brought up in this. Even if he was nowadays, if a bid is accepted…

“Celtic paid £9m for Edouard who’s a player with potential and certainly wasn’t the finished article.
“I’m not sure he’s ready to come up and play for that kind of money. If it was somewhere around the £7m mark then it might be an investment for Celtic”
There is no doubt Rangers are up against it to keep Ryan Kent.
The Daily Record then claimed Liverpool were looking for £8-10m for the player, pricing Rangers out of a move.
Ryan Kent “loving it” at Ibrox
Jim Duffy, in flexing Celtic’s financial muscles, suggests our rivals might be interested. But his suggestion that Kent doesn’t have a clue about how it works up here is the most absurd. Kent’s well aware of what it means to play for Rangers.

So much so he speaks openly about how much he is loving it at the club [Evening Times]. That has obviously spawned much talk about his future at Ibrox.
Rangers might be priced out of a move for the player down south, but if Kent is to be in Scotland next year, there will only be one destination. And it’s not in the Eastend.
It’s not the first time Celtic fans have asked this kind of question either – laughable rumours last month claimed Alfredo Morelos was on Celtic’s radar.
