Rangers edging closer to move for Birmingham's Greg Stewart - reports

Rangers are set to confirm their second summer signing as reports claim Greg Stewart is on his way to Ibrox.
According to the Daily Record, Stewart has held talks with the club and is edging closer to a deal. The 29-year-old Birmingham City forward is currently on loan at Aberdeen. He has also reportedly been offered a four-year deal at Pittodrie.
Any move will continue Rangers’ shrewd investment in Scottish Premiership talent. Dundee’s Glen Kamara eventually joined in January and Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones is set to join in June after originally signing a pre-contract agreement.

Stewart is a former Scottish footballing Player of the Year nominee and one-time lethal goalscorer. The goals have dried up somewhat since a move to Birmingham and a subsequent Scottish return to Aberdeen.

But Stewart lit up Rugby Park in a loan spell at Kilmarnock in the first half of the season.
A shock move to Pittodrie in January means he has not had the same impact. But he’s been largely played in an ineffective position.
At 29, Stewart will bring an understanding of the game here to the Rangers squad. If the club can get him firing again like in his Dundee days, this could prove a smart signing by Gerrard.
The move will also prevent any other rival clubs from securing his signature.

The news comes after Rangers reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Motherwell talent Jake Hastie, much to the confusion of fans.
