Philippe Clement is expecting a busy end to the transfer window and the latest news coming out of Rangers suggests he’s not lying.
The Belgian manager made the pledge following the weekend’s 1-0 win over St Mirren with several players since linked into the club and out of the club as January suddenly heats up.
Here, we look at all the reported chopping and changing in the Ibrox squad and how that might see the club’s squad shape up come the 1st of February.
Rangers transfer news: three incomings?
In terms of incomings, Rangers have already added Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves and have struck a £4.3m loan-to-buy deal to sign Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjælland.
Both players, 21 and 22 respectively, arrive with burgeoning reputations in the game with Ibrox the stage on which they hope to take their next footballing steps.
But Rangers aren’t expected to end their January shopping there either with as many as three players touted to join the club in the coming days.
Brazilian left-back Jefte has been strongly linked whilst Colombian winger Oscar Cortes looks set to be offered an RC Lens reprieve in Govan.
There’s also the striker void in the squad which needs plugged, with Rangers having watched Lawrence Shankland score yet another goal for Hearts at the weekend.
Two players set to leave Ibrox?
In terms of outgoings, there are two players for whom transfer interest appears to be plentiful.
Firstly, Ridvan Yilmaz is reportedly a transfer target for Galatasaray with Rangers manager Philippe Clement admitting the on-form Turkish international left-back has a price.
With the Super Lig giants also just cashing a £25m cheque from Bayern Munich – who’ve bought right-back Sacha Boey – they’ve got the dough to bankroll a Ridvan move.
Then there is also Ecuadorean midfielder Jose Cifuentes, who has been the subject of a £2m loan-to-buy offer from Turkish side Rizespor.
There are doubts surrounding Cifuentes’s eagerness to move, but it’s clear Rangers are willing to move the 24-year-old on.
Sam Lammers – another expensive summer signing – has already moved on loan to Utrecht.
