Rangers continue to be linked with new signings and allegedly scouted Heart of Midlothian striker Lawrence Shankland on Saturday afternoon.

Rangers added a new face on Friday with Nordsjaelland playmaker Mohamed Diomande completing his move to Ibrox.

Another one may not be far behind with Brazilian left back Jefte expected to arrive from Fluminense despite being on loan at APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus right now.

This could be a busy final few days of the window with Jose Cifuentes potentially on his way to Turkish side Caykur Rizespor and questions still surrounding the future of Ridvan Yilmaz.

Rangers may even push to add more new faces and one name that just won’t go away is that of Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland

Hearts striker Shankland continues to be linked with Rangers but time is running out if a move is going to materialise.

Reports from Sky Sports earlier in the window indicated that Rangers are interested in signing Shankland and a deal could be done.

Hearts are allegedly seeking around £3million for Shankland, so Rangers may need to move some bodies out before striking a transfer.

The Scottish Sun now claim that Rangers scouts watched Shankland in action on Saturday as Hearts hosted Aberdeen at Tynecastle.

Shankland scored the second for Hearts in a 2-0 win, surely impressing Rangers scouts in the process.

Fans may assume that Rangers scouts will already know all there is to know about Shankland, who is a proven force in Scottish football.

Rangers may well move for Shankland in the coming days though and making one more check on him before deadline day won’t hurt.

Shankland is now inside the final 18 months of his Hearts contract and Rangers may see this as the perfect time to pounce.

A regular goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership and a boyhood Gers fan, Shankland certainly makes sense for Philippe Clement amid the injury woes of Kemar Roofe and Danilo.

Whether Rangers are willing to pay millions for another 28-year-old striker, just months after signing Cyriel Dessers, remains to be seen.

Saturday’s scouting trip will set tongues wagging though and Hearts will surely be braced for a late offer from Rangers as the January transfer deadline looms.
