Rangers reportedly accept offer for ‘exciting’ Beale signing

Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes looks poised to leave the club after an offer from Caykur Rizespor was accepted this weekend.

All of the attention has been on a potential signing with Fluminense left back Jefte reportedly on the verge of a move to Ibrox.

The Brazilian is currently on loan at APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus but will cut that spell short in order to join Rangers.

That may lead to some departures and whilst there has been focus on Ridvan Yilmaz, we may actually see a midfielder leave Glasgow very soon…

Rangers accept Jose Cifuentes offer

Sky Sports now claim that Rangers have accepted an offer from Turkish side Caykur Rizespor for midfielder Jose Cifuentes.

It’s stated that Rangers will allow Cifuentes to join Caykur Rizespor on loan with the option for a £2million permanent move at the end of the season.

Caykur Rizespor are not alone in the race though as teams in Europe and South America are interested too, meaning Rangers may yet receive other offers.

Rangers just signed a new midfielder in Mohamed Diomande and it looks like Philippe Clement is now happy for Cifuentes to go.

The Ecuadorian only joined Rangers from LAFC over the summer in a deal which took months to complete and cost around £1.2million.

Cifuentes had excelled in MLS and Michael Beale talked him up as an ‘exciting’ signing for Rangers – but it just hasn’t worked out.

Cifuentes has played just nine Scottish Premiership games this season and just 20 across all competitions.

The 24-year-old seemingly won’t have a key role moving forward with Diomande now on board and Rangers could let him go less than six months after signing him.

It’s astonishing that Rangers put so much time into signing Cifuentes and are now willing to let him move on.

Maybe Clement just doesn’t see a role for him or may simply not rate him; we are yet to really see why Beale was so adamant about signing him.

Cifuentes moving on would be the second Beale signing to be moved on by Clement after Sam Lammers was sent off to Utrecht.

Cifuentes hasn’t been seen in a Rangers shirt since the 14th of December and it looks like his time may be up with a move to Turkey on the cards.

Caykur Rizespor currently sit fifth in the Turkish Super Lig table and have genuine hope of European qualification this season, with Cifuentes now primed to join that push for a top-four finish.
