The Rizespor move for Jose Cifuentes could yet hit the rocks after it emerged the Rangers midfielder is not keen on a move to Turkey.
Reports over the weekend claimed that Rangers have accepted a £2m loan-to-buy offer for the Ecuadorean international, who has struggled to settle in his first six months in Glasgow.
With the Gers set to make a slight profit on the 24-year-old, it was then claimed that the ball is in Cifuentes’s court with the Super Lig side ready to bring the ex-LAFC star in.
But now it appears that the move could yet hit the skids amid claims that Jose Cifuentes isn’t overly keen on a move to Rize.
Jose Cifuentes not keen on Turkey switch
Rangers Review journalist Derek Clerk has claimed on X that Jose Cifuentes is not keen on a move to Turkey despite the Gers accepting the Rizespor transfer bid.
Clark is however also clear that fans should expect outgoings as the window prepares to enter its final 72 hours.
The tweet comes against the backdrop of much transfer reporting at Ibrox, with the club expected to make several moves in the final few days of the window.
Rangers have been strongly linked with moves for Brazilian left-back Jefté and Colombian winger Oscar Cortes, with Clark claiming another player could follow them into Ibrox.
Rangers are on the hunt for a new striker option after potentially season-ending injuries to Danilo and Kemar Roofe, with Ibrox scouts watching Hearts talisman Lawrence Shankland net another stunner over the weekend.
Rangers transfer situation remains fluid
Whilst Jose Cifuentes might not be open to a move to Turkey and Rizespor, it’s clear Rangers are willing to offload the Ecuadorean World Cup star.
Joining on a reported £1.2m from LAFC in the summer, Rangers would stand to bank a small £800k profit on the midfielder if the deal is realised.
But should an exit be forthcoming for Jose Cifuentes it’ll signal an admission that the club got its summer transfer business wrong, with Sam Lammers already vacating Ibrox.

Joining late in the summer window certainly never helped Cifu, who hasn’t been seen in a Rangers jersey since the 3-2 win over Real Betis in Spain.
With Rangers bringing in Mohamed Diomande, and the likes of Ryan Jack and Nicolas Raskin returning from injury, competition is also fierce in the middle of the park.
