Rangers hope to recoup ‘up to £18.5m in transfer fees’ this summer

Rangers have already reportedly raked in £3.5m from transfer fees this summer, with up to £15m set to follow as an Ibrox exodus gets underway.

The Ibrox side saw five of the club’s most experienced first-teamers walk away for nothing in the summer as Allan McGregor, Filip Helander, Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos moved on.

The exits of Kent and Morelos in particular irked with supporters, who’ve been fed repeated soundbites about the necessity of player trading despite Rangers losing money on both in terms of transfer fees paid.

That’s even if the club freed up a reported £4.5m from the yearly wage bill.

However, as the window begins to kick into action Rangers have finally begun trading players out of the club with Antonio Colak moving to Parma in Italy to the tune of £2.5m.

Rangers have already recouped £1m from Bayern cancelling the option-to-buy loan deal involving Malik Tillman, although the £5m deal to bring him to Ibrox has collapsed.

That £3.5m boost represents a solid start to the window but if the latest reports are to be believed then Rangers are not going to stop there with the transfer fees attached to several players potentially set to add another £15m to the club’s transfer coffers.

Rangers back-up goalkeeper Robby McCrorie this week reportedly told Michael Beale that he wants to move on in the search of more first-team football.

According to reports, Rangers will start the bidding at £500k for the stopper given he is in the final year of his Ibrox contract.

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has been strongly linked with an exit with all the reporting suggesting the club want £5m for the Finnish international.

Add into that reports that Serie A clubs are tailing Ianis Hagi to the tune of £3.5m and that a £4m transfer to Saudi Arabia could potentially be calling for Fashion Sakala and suddenly the transfers tot up.

There is also those links between Steven Gerrard out in the Middle East and winger Scott Wright, with reports claiming it’ll take £2m to bring him to Dammam.

Should all of these links be realised, Rangers could rake in a quite astonishing £18.5m in transfer fees alone this summer in quite the turn up for the accounting books.

Speaking of cash boosts, the club was also rewarded with an extra £300k in the shape of a FIFA payment for providing players for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
