Sky Sports in Ridvan Yilmaz to Verona update after Rangers training camp clue

A transfer report has suggested that Verona are yet to bid for Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz – as the Turkish international is spotted at the club’s winter training camp.

The Turkish international, 22, has been linked with a £3m switch to the Italian club after what’s been a largely disappointing 18 month stint in Glasgow.

But now a report has claimed that Verona have not yet actually lodged a bid for Ridvan Yilmaz with the player hard at work at Rangers’ winter training camp.

Sky Sports – quoting their sister company Sky Italia – claim that Verona are ”expected” to make an offer for Yilmaz with the suggestion being that no move has been made as things stand.

That would explain Ridvan Yilmaz’s presence at the Rangers training camp in Spain with the full-back snapped in the Ibrox side’s first official training pictures from the trip.

Ridvan Yilmaz to Verona?

As things stand, Ridvan Yilmaz is clearly still a Rangers player and we wonder how long that will be for as the Ibrox side reportedly line up potential replacements.

Verona also may well be waiting for some cogs to turn in the background of their own squad before making the plunge for Yilmaz.

The latest reports suggest that Scottish left-back Josh Doig – who has been linked with Rangers – is at the centre of a €6m (£5.2m) transfer tussle between Torino and Marseille.

AC Milan are also reportedly close on a €5.5m (£4.7m) move for Filippo Teraccianno, a right midfielder who has been keeping Doig out of the left-back slot this season.

Throw in exit links surrounding Cameroonian defender Martin Hongla and suddenly Verona are reportedly waiting to bank over £12m in transfers coming into the club.

Rangers tight-lipped on transfer business

Rangers have been decidedly tight-lipped about the entire thing although established Scottish journalist Chris Jack believes there is something in the links.

The Gers have not been giving anything away this transfer window with several big name links in and out of the club yet to be verified as things stand.

Dutch forward Sam Lammers became the latest name to exit the club, the £3.5m summer signing rather depressingly joining Utrecht on loan until the end of the season.

Rangers have also moved to dispel links to Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, who looks set to leave Fenerbahce at some point this month.

As for Ridvan Yilmaz to Verona, as things stand the young Turk is very much a member of Philippe Clement’s squad and unless the two clubs can agree a suitable deal that will not change.
