Blackburn Rovers are holding out for £8million to sell Ryan Alebiosu amid interest from Rangers this summer.
The Light Blues are already in the final lap of what was a short manager saga, with Derek McInnes agreeing to move to Ibrox after Danny Rohl struck a deal to take charge as the new Red Bull Salzburg boss.
With McInnes already lined up as the new head coach, Rangers are expected to turn their attention back to the transfer window, as signing a new right-back to replace James Tavernier remains a priority among other things.
The Govan club have been linked with several full-backs, including Hampus Skoglund and Bryan Reynolds, while Blackburn’s Alebiosu is also on their radar.
A four-man shortlist has been drawn up to replace James Tavernier…
We believe Hampus Skoglund is the ideal candidate. Let us know what you think!
Blackburn have lined up replacement for Alebiosu, but want £8m
According to Alan Nixon, Blackburn want to retain Alebiosu’s services despite interest from clubs including Rangers.
The Championship club are prepared to offer the Nigeria international a new and improved contract to convince him to stay at Ewood Park.
However, the Rovers will open the door for a sale if the defender rejects that proposal, although he still has two years remaining on his existing deal.
Blackburn, though, have no plans to sell Alebiosu for cheap and want £8m for his transfer, as per the journalist.

That sum ‘may be too much for his admirers’, including Rangers, according to Nixon.
There was hope that the Gers could sign Alebiosu on a cut-price deal if Blackburn suffered relegation in the recently concluded season.
However, Tony Mowbray’s side plan to drive a hard bargain after surviving in the Championship.
They already have a replacement for the 24-year-old lined up in the shape of Danny McNamara, who is still waiting for an offer from Blackburn and Stoke City after leaving Millwall as a free agent.
Now that Danny Rohl seems set to leave Rangers, how would you rate his time at the club?
Rangers must give up on Alebiosu
At 24, Alebiosu’s best years are still ahead of him. He was also a key player for Blackburn last year, bagging one goal and five assists in 39 league appearances.
However, the English second-tier club do not want to sell the defender yet, having only signed him from KV Kortrijk last year.
It is worth noting that the Rovers reportedly paid only £500,000 to acquire the former Arsenal player’s services from the Belgian club last summer.
Therefore, it is best that the Ibrox club drop their interest in him immediately.
