Rangers are ramping up their interest in Zalaegerszegi TE centre-back Akpe Victory ahead of the summer transfer window.
ZTE want £4.3m to sell Victory, and have a number of clubs keen on signing their 19-year-old defender.
They have already received two bids from FC Basel and have turned down both of them as they have not managed to even come close to their valuation.
How much should Rangers demand for Youssef Chermiti?
He scored 15 goals in his first season at Ibrox…
Rangers set to table Akpe Victory to steer clear of competition
Rangers are set to make a “significant” offer to ZTE in order to sign Victory ahead of the other suitors, according to Sky Sports.
While the amount has not been mentioned, it is expected to be more than what Basel offered.
The Gers have already touched base with ZTE with an initial enquiry and the only logical way to follow it up is by making a bid.
Who is the worst-ever Rangers manager? 🤔
We think it cannot be anyone else except Russell Martin!
Benfica are another club who are keen on Victory, and much like the Light Blues, have not yet made a bid for him.
The centre-back is contracted to the Hungarian club until 2028, so they are under no immediate pressure to sell him.
However, the general feeling is that he will be parting ways with them this summer, but they are holding on to their price, given the growing interest in his services.
As things stand, there is no clear favourite to sign Victory this summer.

Which other defenders are being considered by the Ibrox hierarchy?
Regardless of whether Victory moves to Ibrox, the Gers will be signing other defenders in the coming weeks.
A large chunk of their backline from last season has departed, leaving a massive void in defence.
Dundee’s Luke Graham remains a main target, but there are other sides keen on securing his services.
Rangers also admire Hampus Skoglund and have identified him as a potential replacement for James Tavernier.
Which right-back would you prefer at Rangers?
There is a chance that two new right-backs may be signed…
James Penrice is another player who has admirers at Ibrox, and he could come in as a backup to Tuur Rommens.
However, given the fact that he has been a regular at AEK Athens, it may be difficult to convince him for a bench role.
