Rangers haven’t been embroiled in many transfer sagas this summer but it would appear that the pursuit of Joan Jordan could be turning into one.
Philippe Clement has secured the services of Vaclav Cerny to add real quality to the right-hand side of the attack but there is still a hole in midfield.
A playmaker of Jordan’s quality would be a huge boost for the manager as news emerges of a 6ft 1inch sized obstacle that Rangers need to overcome.

Rangers given Joan Jordan transfer verdict
Reports claimed that Rangers were willing to go as high as 40% of the Spaniard’s salary to seal the loan deal and then Sevilla added a clause.
This involved the Light Blues committing to an obligation to buy option at the end of the loan period.
The fee, said to between £2-4m wouldn’t be unreachable, however, his £69,000 per week wage is.
Wilmer Ayala of El Gol Digital, who has been on top of the transfer since it broke, have provided mixed news:
“The truth is that this team has taken care of improving the offer and has managed to convince the board of directors of Sevilla FC .
“But who has not managed to persuade is Joan Jordan himself, who remains reluctant to the idea of signing for this team.”
Ayala also added that Rangers have upped their offer to 60% of Jordan’s weekly wage, or £41,400 per week, which shows how important they see this deal.
Have Rangers already spoken to Joan Jordan?
Philippe Clement has spoken already about the prospect of new signings and hinted that new recruits are on the way:
“We’re not there where we want to be end of August but I don’t think it’s in one team in the world.
“The case, and I know everywhere supporters want that but it’s not possible.
“So, everybody’s working hard on that.
“How fast things go, you never have control on that because it has to do with yourself, what you can spend, with other teams whether they want to let players go and how much they ask for that and it’s about convincing also players.
“So, there are several players who are convinced that Rangers is a good place, but you still need negotiations around that.”
Clement was quite clear in his suggestion that Rangers have already spoken to players.
The manager also went far enough to say that some have verbally agreed to join the Ibrox revolution.
Why then would Rangers waste time negotiating with a club over a potential loan deal if they hadn’t already spoken to the player?
As Clement detailed himself, there are a lot of working parts to any transfer but the key is the player.
After that, it is about having the money to make a deal, which in this instance, it would appear that Rangers have.
Clement managed to persuade Vaclav Cerny, maybe he can persuade Jordan too.
