Rangers are one of three clubs reportedly “following” QPR striker Lyndon Dykes as reports of a £7m Ibrox bid for Greek striker Tasos Douvikas are rubbished.

According to the Daily Mail, Championship outfit Millwall are heading the hunt for Scotland international Lyndon Dykes with Premier League newboys Burnley also mentioned.

It comes after the striker’s heroics with the national team, the 27-year-old Aussie born striker scoring and assisting in a late Scotland comeback win over Norway.

The report claims that whilst Rangers are only “following” the striker, Millwall had a bid turned down in January and are now ready to resurrect their interest in Dykes after signing Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet.

Rangers “following” QPR’s Lyndon Dykes

Rangers have been consistently mentioned alongside a move for Lyndon Dykes throughout his career, with Steven Gerrard linked to the Scotland international during his time with Livingston.

The fact that Michael Beale coached Lyndon Dykes at QPR has appeared to add fuel to the fire concerning a potential switch, but the striker wasn’t so complimentary when the coach left London for Glasgow.

Rangers manager Michael Beale also appeared to rubbish any suggestion Rangers would move for Lyndon Dykes when he claimed the club would not be raiding Loftus Road for signings this summer.

Rangers are on the hunt for extra firepower ahead of the new season with Atalanta’s Dutch striker Sam Lammers already joining in a reported £3.5m deal.

The Ibrox side are still believed to be in negotiations over Nigerian international Cyriel Dessers, who is currently at Cremonese, whilst Josh Maja links are also said to be legitimate.

Whilst the jury remains out on a potential deal for Lyndon Dykes, one player who won’t be joining Rangers appears to be Utrecht’s Greek forward Tasos Douvikas.

Amid claims the Gers are set to make a £7m bid for the 23-year-old, the likes of the Rangers Review have moved to rubbish the reports.

They claim that the suggestion of Rangers interest in Douvikas is “wide of the mark”.

This has also been backed up by the likes of leading fan media outlet Heart & Hand, who claim there is “nothing in” Rangers links to the striker.

With major doubts surrounding the striker position at Rangers, Kemar Roofe struggling to get a consistent run of games and Antonio Colak failing to make a mark in the biggest matches, it’s certainly a position we expect to see investment this summer.
