Rangers appear to have moved on quickly from Cyriel Dessers after news broke of a bid for Danilo.
The 24-year old Feyenoord striker is Michael Beale’s next target according to reports but there is some way to go before any announcement will be made.
Writing on Twitter, Heart and Hand’s David Edgar confirmed that the clubs are apart in terms of valuation but that Rangers are still hoping to land Danilo.
No details have yet emerged in terms of fees and valuations, only that the offer made by the Light Blues “isn’t close” to what the Eredivisie champions are looking for.
With 14 goals last season, Danilo played his part but mainly as an option off the bench, starting just 40% of their league games having been in fine form earlier in the campaign.
Hailing Rangers-linked Danilo as “exciting” Edgar then revealed that, despite the gap, a deal could still be made.
Rangers bid for Danilo the latest to hit roadblock
As fans, it is frustrating when the key signings we need – two forwards – don’t seem close to completion.
Even more concerning is that, so far, money is the biggest stumbling block.
For Luis Palma and Cyriel Dessers, it has been £1-2m that has been the difference, the same with Benie Traore.

It’s one thing being sensible with money but, with the bulk of our summer business done with only Sam Lammers demanding a transfer fee, Rangers need to be realistic about how much it is going to cost to sign what we need.
Danilo might not have been Feyenoord’s first choice striker last season but, having arrived on a free transfer last summer, they will be looking to get as much money as they can for the Brazilian.
It’s the first bid, hopefully, it won’t be the last.
