As with Sam Lammers, shortly before he arrived in Glasgow, it’s gone eerily quiet on the Cyriel Dessers to Rangers front.
The Nigeria international was said to be keen on a move to Ibrox, however, Cremonese appear to be holding him to ransom and the latest news suggests that he might even stay in Italy now.
We’ve seen the YouTube videos, but what would Cyriel Dessers look like in a Rangers jersey if a little persistence is shown.

The 28-year old seems to be Michael Beale’s first choice number nine, so far.
As with his fellow Serie A striker Sam Lammers, the Gers gaffer has moved early to secure his top targets.
The issue with Cyriel Dessers though is that Rangers face competition from Torino.
There is also the small issue of the reported £4.4m bid being some way short of Cremonese’s claimed £7m valuation.
Rangers won’t go that high for a player with almost no sell on value at that price, however, the numbers suggest that we could be getting a great deal if one can be agreed closer to the bid we have made.
What Cyriel Dessers would bring to a Rangers shirt
Using Opta Analyst to compare players, Cyriel Dessers could be Rangers answer to Luka Jovic or, even better, Callum Wilson.

Both players align similarly to the reported Rangers target in that they do their best work in and around the box.
Surprisingly, for those opposed to Dessers goal record, he scored the same number as Jovic in Serie A last season, in fewer games, in a poorer team.

Wilson, on the other hand, with 18 Premier League goals, has played a key role in Newcastle’s rise up the Premier League table and his place as England’s back up to Harry Kane is well deserved.
Could we afford Jovic or Wilson? No chance.
But we can afford the next best thing, if Cremonese lower their asking price that is.
