Rangers can sign Bryan Reynolds from Westerlo for £3million after having an initial bid rejected by the Belgian club, Rangers News has learned.
It is only a matter of time before the Light Blues announce Derek McInnes as their new head coach, meaning they will continue their work on the transfer front without further delay.
Signing a new right-back to replace James Tavernier remains a priority, with several targets already identified.
Rangers News revealed that the club have held meetings with the representatives of Hammarby’s Hampus Skoglund, while Ryan Alebiosu has also been linked with a move to Govan.
However, Rangers’ interest in Reynolds appears to be far more advanced, as evidenced by their £2.2m bid for the full-back.

Westerlo want at least £3m for Reynolds as Rangers competition revealed
Westerlo were quick to reject Rangers’ initial offer, although they risk losing Reynolds for free next summer, as he is entering the final year of his contract.
Sources have told Rangers News that the Belgian Pro League club want at least £3m for the United States international, who is not at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on home turf.
There was an earlier indication that Westerlo would hold out for as much as £4.3m, but the player’s contract situation means there is scope for negotiation.

Sources note that larger clubs in Belgium are also keen to acquire Reynolds’s services.
However, they would need to sell players first before being they are able to pursue a move for the 24-year-old, thus giving Rangers a clear advantage in this transfer race.
The player, for his part, is keen on a move to Ibrox.
The former AS Roma ace has been a man in demand at Westerlo, with Sparta Prague previously offering a fee in the region of £3m, only to be turned down by his employers.
Hoffenheim’s attempt to take Reynolds on loan is well-documented, while Feyenoord have also been credited with an interest.
What do you make of Bryan Reynolds joining Rangers?
He appears to be a clear upgrade on Dujon Sterling! 💪
What it means for the Gers
With Rangers’ initial bid standing at £2.2m, there is not much separating the two clubs and their valuation of the player.
Therefore, it would not be a surprise if the Ibrox club return with a second offer – closer to £3m – to persuade Westerlo to agree a deal.
However, it remains to be seen if McInnes‘s arrival will have any impact on the club’s pursuit of the American defender.
