Aberdeen icon Duncan Shearer believes it would be a ‘huge blow’ to the Scottish Premiership outfit if they lost £5 million-rated striker Bojan Miovski to Rangers during the January transfer window.

As far as the Montenegro international’s future is concerned, Duncan Shearer remains confident that he will still be donning the red of The Dons when February rolls around.

But, as long as the window is open, those concerns will remain, nagging away at even the most rose-tinted Aberdeen supporter. Rangers are keen, according to the Scottish Sun.

Barry Robson’s side are under no immediate pressure to cash in, however, with Bojan Miovski under contract until 2026 at Pittodrie. Shearer’s stance is strengthened, meanwhile, by suggestions that Aberdeen would demand a minimum of £5 million, a fee that would make Miovski the most expensive player ever to move from one Premiership side to another (Sky Sports).

“If Aberdeen did sell Miovski, it would be a huge blow,” Shearer tells the Press and Journal. “But I can’t see it happening.

“I’ve been at clubs where players have forced moves away, but I don’t get the impression Miovski is seeking a move at this point. He looks happy where he is. His team-mates are getting the best out of him, and he is having a terrific season.”

A bargain acquisition from Hungarian outfit MTV Budapest during the summer of 2022, Miovski has 15 goals in 29 games this campaign and should comfortably outstrip his tally from an impressive debut season on Scottish soil.

Aberdeen want around £5 million

Rangers, meanwhile, could opt for a more low-cost acquisition this month. Kevin van Veen may be available after struggling at Groningen, while £20 million forgotten man Emmanuel Dennis – who worked with Philippe Clement at Club Brugge – may be allowed to leave Nottingham Forest on loan.

“With two-and-a-half years remaining on (Miovski) contract, his club is under no pressure to sell,” Shearer adds. “And barring a huge club record fee being submitted, I expect the striker to still be at Pittodrie when the window closes.”
