Aberdeen ‘want Bojan Miovski to stay’ as Rangers run the rule over the Scottish Premiership marksman ahead of a potential January swoop.

After struggling to break down Philippe Clement’s backline during the League Cup final on Sunday – Rangers triumphing 1-0 at Hampden Park thanks to James Tavernier’s acrobaticsBojan Miovski was back in form and back among the goals in midweek.

The Montenegrin marksman took his tally to 14 with a pair of clinical finishes against Livingston.

And, after Aberdeen secured only their third win in nine Premiership games, embattled head coach Barry Robson spoke out about his desire to keep Miovski beyond the close of the winter window.

Rangers like Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski

“Miovski scored two great goals and probably could have scored a few more. We’re pleased we got the win,” Robson tells the Daily Record. “There’s more to come from the lad. We could see when he came in there were things to improve on, but he’s built a good relationship with Duk and Ester Sokler. He’s doing really well.

“We’ll just have to say to Dave (Cormack, Aberdeen’s chairman) he’s not allowed to go. We’re a good team when we’re at it. And, with Bojan and others who perform well in big European games, people look at that.

“We want him to stay as long as he can. And hopefully he’ll be here for a good bit longer.”

Kemar Roofe joins Danilo in treatment room

Rangers are keen, according to The Sun

Clement has since confirmed his desire to add a new centre-forward to Rangers’ ranks too. And that stance will not have been altered by the sight of Kemar Roofe limping off just 16 minutes into Wednesday’s 2-0 triumph over St Johnstone, the former Leeds striker potentially joining the stricken Danilo on the sidelines.

Miovski, The Sun add, will cost a minimum of £4.5 million. Aberdeen want a Premiership-record fee for a forward they signed for a bargain £500,000 back in 2022.
