Liverpool have named Rangers target Ryan Kent in their 28-man squad for a pre-season training camp in the United States of America.
Following a successful loan spell at Ibrox last season, the tricky winger has been a much-publicised target of Rangers’ for the entire transfer window.
But his presence in the Liverpool squad is a blow for Rangers and shows Kent’s destination next summer clearly remains undecided.
There have been a range of conflicting reports concerning Ryan Kent over the last few weeks.
Steven Gerrard has never hidden his desire to bring Kent back to Rangers, but most recently said that any move is “in Liverpool’s hands”.
Considering he’s now taken off to the USA, Jurgen Klopp clearly feels the player is worth a closer look going into the new season.
That said, there are notable absentees from the Liverpool who’re heading stateside. Mo Salah, Robert Firmino, Xherdan Shaqiri and Sadio Mane haven’t travelled with the side to the training camp.
These are the first-choice players in the forward positions at Anfield. But that doesn’t mean Kent won’t be involved going into the new campaign.
Kent also played a starring role in a pre-season friendly with Bradford City recently. The winger had a hand in all three goals as the Reds won 3-1.
Maybe there’s a chance he’ll be a part of Liverpool’s squad next season after all.
Or could he end up at Leeds United after Marcelo Bielsa himself was said to have watched him in action at the weekend [Scottish Sun]?
