Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he doesn’t expect the European champions to be busy in the transfer window – and it could spell trouble for Rangers’ pursuit of Ryan Kent.
The Liverpool winger featured for Klopp’s side as they beat Tranmere 6-0 last night, with Rangers patiently waiting to find out if he will be allowed to return to Ibrox on loan.
After Klopp suggested that the likes of Rhian Brewster, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and “the young boys” involved against Tranmere will play a bigger part this season then it doesn’t look good.
“Rhian Brewster, (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t play last year, all the young boys didn’t play for us last year,” said Klopp, as quoted by the Evening Standard.
“The transfer market is open. We will see what we do, but I don’t think it will be the biggest transfer window of all time.”
Kent’s future has led to huge amounts of speculation over when the Gers might finally get an idea of what is happening, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be coming imminently.
If Klopp does decide to keep hold of him then it’s hard to see the winger getting much game-time at Anfield ahead of the likes of Mo Salah.
Hopefully, Liverpool makes a decision one way or the other and stop this from dragging on longer than it needs to.
