The Scottish Sun reports that Marcelo Bielsa scouted Ryan Kent over the weekend.
It’s claimed the Leeds United boss attended the Northern Commercials Stadium to cast his eye over both Kent and Harry Wilson, as Liverpool took on Bradford City on Sunday.
This wasn’t just a casual visit in his spare time, either. The eccentric manager apparently delayed his trip to Leeds’ pre-season tour of Australia in order to watch the match.
It shows a genuine interest in a player Steven Gerrard is keen to get back to Ibrox [Liverpool Echo].
If this report is accurate, Leeds are clearly serious interested in Kent’s services. That’s a little ominous, especially as Kent’s performance on the day is only likely to have impressed Bielsa further.
A recent STV report suggested that Rangers have ‘first option’ to sign Kent, should he be made available for loan. Yet, the player himself is bound to have a say in the matter.
Let’s hope that when it comes down to it, he wants to return to his adoring fans at Ibrox, over a promotion push at Leeds.
Either way, we look set for quite a wait, as the 22-year-old has left these shores to take part in Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the US.
