An unnamed Portuguese club expressed a late interest in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, according to a Rangers News source.
Whilst no official bid was lodged for the Colombian forward, Rangers News understands that early enquiries were made about a potential loan-to-buy deal from a Portuguese side.
Whatever the case, Rangers made it clear that Alfredo Morelos was not for sale in the final days of the transfer window.
You can imagine that this stance certainly would not have changed without the bulk of the money for the prospective move upfront.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard told the press last week that none of his first-team stars would be sold in the final week of the window.
The Liverpool legend also made it clear that the Ibrox club were yet to receive any bid for one of their star men. That includes Morelos [Rangers].
The summer window was dominated with talk over Alfredo Morelos’ future, with the likes of Crystal Palace, West Ham [Daily Star] and Eintracht Frankfurt [Daily Record] all credited with interest at some point.
Chinese outfit Hebei China Fortune [Sky Sports] were also reportedly willing to offer Morelos £10m to move to the Chinese Super League.
In the last few days, a Portuguese club expressed interest in bringing Morelos to the continent but they were quickly informed that the player was not for sale.
Particularly, it would seem, not on the terms reportedly being considered by the Portuguese club.
