Rangers boss Steven Gerrard appeared to confirm that Alfredo Morelos is going nowhere this summer as he addressed the press before Sunday’s match with Celtic.

Still on a high from the success of securing Europa League qualification against Legia, Gerrard discussed a range of transfer topics in front of expectant reporters.

But more than any word on players coming in, it was what Gerrard had to say about people going out which would’ve caught Gers’ fans attention the most.

“None of my players will be going out of the door,” said Gerrard.

“It’s too late. We gave everyone worldwide enough notice and told them that all our players have a price, but we also made it pretty clear that nothing will be happening in the last week of the window.

“I think I was clear and fair on that.

“And the reason being is because, y’know, our replacements for these players that we work on behind the scenes, just in case, I think it’d be virtually impossible to get them out the door to replace.

“So, we’d leave ourselves in a really vulnerable position if we were to let one of our best players go now.”

The Rangers boss also claimed that Rangers haven’t had a single “concrete bid” for one of their star men, “yet”.

But the comments of Steven Gerrard on players staying would suggest that Alfredo Morelos – despite some crazy suggestions otherwise [Sky Sports News] – will be staying at the club.
