Rangers CEO James Bisgrove has confirmed the club are closing in on the appointment of a new Director of Football.

Speaking at the freshly launched Fans’ Forum at New Edmiston House, James Bisgrove confirmed that the club are set to hold final interviews with regards the position in the coming weeks.

It comes after James Bisgrove had confirmed the club were set to follow up the appointment of Philippe Clement with a new Director of Football to complete the club’s footballing board.

Rangers have been without someone in such a position since Sporting Director Ross Wilson left for Nottingham Forest in April.

“The chairman (John Bennett) and I will have more meetings in London at end of the week,” said Bisgrove.

“That individual will lead our recruitment team and liaise with Craeg (Robertson, director of football operations) with everything in our football department.

“We are moving to the final stages on this.”

Attentions will now turn to who Rangers and James Bisgrove believe is the man to fill the Director of Football void at Ibrox.

Rangers have used the model ever since the appointment of Mark Allen back in 2017 and it is the working model the club will look to employ going forward.

There have been several names linked to the position in the last few months, with the likes of ex-Ibrox defender Carlos Bocanegra and former Arsenal chief Steve Morrow early names in the running.

More recently, there have been links to Brighton & Hove Albion staffer Sam Jewell and ex-Norwich director Stuart Webber.

Whoever it is that James Bisgrove and co appoint as the new Director of Football will clearly be someone the club believes is the right man for the job,

Speaking of the Edmiston House Fans’ Forum, a new Director of Football wasn’t the only headline-grabbing update from the meeting.

Between talk of stadium expansion and a link-up with a K-Pop group, it’s certainly been a busy week for Rangers’ new CEO.
