Vaclav Cerny on Premier League dream and if Rangers transfer is ‘on the table’

Rangers are a selling club, there is little that can be done about this whilst they remain in the SPFL and have their ambitions hamstrung by a revenue ceiling.

In terms of record transfers, there is a player trading model that has spluttered along, but has shown potential in terms of how much players have been sold for and the clubs that have signed them.

Scotland isn’t the sort of destination where established internationals dream of playing, however, Rangers’ size and reputation in Europe is still a draw.

The Premier League, on the other hand is, given the money and exposure that it brings with Ibrox a suitable platform for players to be judged on whether or not they have what it takes.

Someone who has is Vaclav Cerny, whose future is up in the air as his time at Rangers ticks down.

Vaclav Cerny reveals future plan amid Rangers move speculation

Cerny wants to stay at Rangers, however, it isn’t quite as simple as that with the imminent San Francisco 49ers takeover probably the only way that a deal could be possible.

When asked by iSport if the Premier League was a dream of his, the 27-year old winger said:

“I won’t say no and I won’t say yes,” a guarded Cerny said.

“From experience, I won’t say destinations and dreams anymore. I’m doing everything to have such a good year, to open as many doors as possible and to have plenty to choose from.

“And whether it’s the Rangers door, whether it’s the door to Wolfsburg, which is the only official one so far – or whether it’s the doors in Spain, Italy, England, Holland… It’s up to me now to open as many as possible.”

Cerny who, like Abdallah Sima wanted to sign, has clearly enjoyed himself at Rangers and an in-form footballer is usually a happy one.

Returning to Wolfsburg is his only concrete option for now, however, the 26-cap star has a dream:

“Those are aspects and topics for a much longer conversation. Nothing is on the table, it’s more of a speculation. I’ve always wanted to try Spain, but I’ve been saying that since I was twelve, so I’ll repeat it.

“Again – we’re talking about something that doesn’t exist at the moment. But if I add a few more goals and end up with twenty goals, ten assists, I’ll have a good season. And then who knows what will happen.”

Madrid or Motherwell? It’s a tough one.
