Rangers will look to rebuild again in the summer with Nils Koppen leading the recruitment team into the next phase.

Early signs are promising, with Jefte, Hamza Igamane and Mohamed Diomande all looking like they can develop into key players in Rangers’ squad, or go on to make the club a fortune in the future.

The wage bill has been cut, however, there is still a lot of money that needs to be saved by selling high earners who are offering very little, even Danilo’s future is in doubt

Whoever replaces Barry Ferguson as Rangers manager will have a big job on their hands, but it might be made easier if one of the stars of 2024/25 gets their way.

Speaking to iSport, Vaclav Cerny has given his thoughts on staying at Ibrox beyond the summer.

Vaclav Cerny open to Rangers permanent transfer

One of 11 Rangers players on international duty, the Czech winger, with 17 goals and 7 assists, all from open play, has been a standout from the summer transfer window of 2024

Signed on loan with no option to buy included, does Cerny want to stay?

“I definitely do,” he said when asked if Rangers are a club where he could see himself continue his career. “But there are so many aspects that I can’t control. All I can do is be the best I can and keep up my form and numbers.

“There’s no time for that, we play every three days. I don’t have an option, that’s the only official one. I don’t know what will happen.”

Pressed on whether or not Rangers have given him any indication of wanting to negotiate with Wolsfburg, he said:

“No. I’m having fun with everyone as I go.

“Rangers will be going through some changes in the summer, there’s talk of new owners buying a large percentage of the shares.

“But nothing is confirmed, it’s just being talked about and written about in the media.

“It wouldn’t be right to discuss something with someone who doesn’t know what will happen in two months. It’s too early for that.”

How much would it cost to sign Cerny and is a deal realistic?

There is a reported £8m price tag for Cerny, way out of Rangers reach, however, there is one way in which a deal could be done.

As the player himself alluded to, the imminent takeover by the San Francisco 49ers could provide an opening.

The outgoing board sought transfer guarantees from the 49ers Enterprises group and not every signing will be one that needs to be developed.

There needs to be quality, first team ready, zero risk, international standard signings too and Cerny has proven that he can produce numbers in both the Scottish Premiership and in Europe.

If there was one transfer that would show that the 49ers mean business, it would be making Cerny the first to be paraded at Ibrox when the window opens.
