An unnamed Serie A side are set to lock horns with Turkish champs Trabzonspor in the hunt for Rangers left-back Borna Barisic.

The Daily Record believe that there is also interest from Italy in the 29-year-old Croatian international as conjecture continues regarding the player’s future.

The report also claims that earlier suggestions in Turkey that Trabzonspor had launched an official bid are premature.

These claims come amid much talk over Borna Barisic’s future, the Ibrox full-back an often inconsistent presence on the left-hand side.

Trabzonspor also pose a particularly interesting option given the fact they have just been crowned Turkish champions for the first time since 1984.

This will give the club the opportunity of a crack at the Champions League and Borna Barisic is seen as a solid option at left-back with the club also linked to AC Milan star Fode Ballo-Toure.

The links to Italy also come after Borna Barisic has been extensively linked to Serie A throughout his career, with Napoli and AS Roma once cited as potential suitors.

Barisic himself has been open about the possibility of leaving Rangers this summer, whilst the Record report insists his priority is to stay at Ibrox.

“I don’t know only about the club, but I am good there and enjoy it,” said Borna [RTL].

“However in football, you never know, there are always some inquiries.

“There could be an offer that satisfies the club and me. Of course, you will leave (then) but until then it does not go further.”

In total, Borna Barisic has made 155 appearances for Rangers, scoring seven goals and laying on 35 assists.

Meanwhile, one heavily Rangers-linked Premier League star has just signed a new deal elsewhere.
