Agent close to Rangers star's father offers player to Napoli - report

An agent close to Rangers star Borna Barisic’s father has reportedly offered the player to Napoli in a strange report coming out of Italy.

Area Napoli is claiming an exclusive on a story which claims an “international intermediary” with links to Barisic’s father has suggested the player to the Italian market.

The news comes after Steven Gerrard confirmed that Italian giants AS Roma were interested in the player but Rangers had plans to open contract talks with the Croatian international [Herald].

The Area Napoli report claims that Rangers are looking for 7-8 million for the wing-back, whilst it doesn’t mention pounds or euros.

It claims that whilst Barisic was offered to Napoli he was only done so once, and he was also offered out to other clubs in the Italian market.

Similarly to Roma, the report also claims that Napoli have an alternative shortlist to Barisic with the likes of Cristiano Giuntoli, Leonardo Koutris and one-time Rangers linked Kostas Tsimikas [Fotomac] on their list.

Interestingly the same outlet claimed during the week that Tsimikas has his eye on a move to Italy [Area Napoli].

Reports in Italy had claimed that AS Roma too had a selection of other names that they were exploring [Calcio Mercato] away from the Rangers wing-back.

It’s certainly a strange suggestion that an agent with links to Barisic’s father was offering the player out across Italy during the transfer window.

Especially when you consider the Ibrox club have no plans to sell Barisic during this January [Daily Record].
