Rangers might have been linked to Tim Iroegbunam ahead of the much-publicised summer rebuild, but comments from Michael Beale suggest the reports might be wide of the mark.

The Ibrox manager has previously stated that he will not look to old club QPR to make new signings with Tim Iroegbunam currently on loan at Loftus Road from Aston Villa.

Rangers have been linked to Tim Iroegbunam by Football Insider and since then there have been gathering reports in the press surrounding the 19-year-old.

But despite Michael Beale having previously signed the kid on loan at QPR – who’re now 18th in the English Championship – it would appear that a return to Loftus Road is not in his plans.

When answering questions on links to QPR winger Chris Willock, Michael Beale claimed that will be no interest for players currently at his former club.

“There’s no interest in Chris Willock or any QPR players,” said Michael Beale.

“We won’t be going to them. I’ve been busy with others this week.”

QPR comments suggest Rangers aren’t in for Tim Iroegbunam

By proxy, these comments also appeared to shut down Rangers links to Lyndon Dykes, and we suspect they are also a hint that any links to Tim Iroegbunam are wide of the mark.

It’s not the only red flags attached to the transfer either, with serious questions surrounding Tim Iroegbunam’s suitably for the Rangers rebuild.

Not least that this would be a squad or experimental signing which is unlikely to have a direct impact on the first team heading into a campaign where Rangers must mount a more serious title challenge.

Rangers have been linked with two high-profile raids south of the border as things stand, with Jack Butland and Kieran Dowell seemingly set to kickstart the summer rebuild.

Plenty of Ibrox deadwood is also set to be shipped out too as Rangers say sayonara to too many players who’ve let the club down time and again.
