Rangers might not have much money to spend in this transfer window, however, Philippe Clement can still be creative as he looks to bring reinforcements to the club.

The manager is having to be patient for phase two of his summer plan as Nils Koppen’s player trading policy begins to take shape.

One area where Rangers might get success is in the loan market where quality can be found but without breaking the bank.

Rangers could take advantage of Joan Jordan situation

Fabrizio Romano reported that an initial offer for Sevilla’s Joan Jordan had been rejected, there is though, a chance that Rangers will go back in for the 30-year old and offer to cover 50% of his wages.

Claimed to be on £69,000 per week, it’s easy to see why finances might restrict a potential deal.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla are holding out for a permanent transfer with Deportivo Alaves also interested an a player who was pivotal in his side’s Europa League triumphs.

If they do send Jordan out on loan, they want the entirety of his wage packet covered.

This could be a transfer that drags on given the circumstances with Jordan left out of his side’s first pre-season friendly against Orlando Pirates – a decision that has irked the authorities according to Sergio Escario of Mundo.

“In Seville they will continue to force a situation that both LaLiga and the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) are very aware of, which every summer sends a circular “to remember the provisions of its ‘Circular 7/2022 – Footballers secluded / as’, remembering that at this time of the season, some clubs remove players from the activity of a squad, committing illegal practices.”

“The fact of not allowing a soccer player to participate in a concentration may constitute a serious breach of the contract and his rights, provided for in articles 4.2, paragraphs a and b, and 17.1 of the Workers’ Statute; also the provisions of article 7.4 of Royal Decree 1006/1985, which regulates the employment relationship of professional athletes.”

Rangers face similar scenario as Jordan exit looms

For whatever reason, Jordan is being frozen out by Sevilla.

Yes, they have signed new midfielders but this doesn’t justify the treatment being dished out to a player with well over 200 appearances for the club and who has also worn the captains armband.

This could benefit Rangers in their attempts to bring him to Ibrox though.

To avoid punishment or having an unhappy player around the training ground, they might be keen to do a deal as soon as possible – even if it isn’t one that is ideal for them.

Ironically, Rangers find themselves in an almost identical situation with Sam Lammers.

Wonder if they would fancy a swap deal?
