The writing appears to be on the wall for Ryan Kent as the Rangers groans which chased Ross Wilson get louder amid links to Premier League newboys Burnley.

The Clarets represent an interesting option for Ryan Kent given they’re set to return to the Premier League with former Man City captain Vincent Kompany the man at the helm at Turf Moor.

Links between Burnley and Ryan Kent are intensifying with the latest suggesting that the Championship leaders have or are at least set to offer the Rangers winger personal terms.

Ryan Kent Burnley exit surely beckons

Should Ryan Kent move on from Rangers in the summer, against the wishes of Michael Beale of course, then the player’s time at Ibrox will be tinged with disappointment.

There is undoubtedly a majorly talented footballer there – as evidence in several Old Firm showings and his magnificent form in the run to the Europa League Final – but a lack of cutting edge has impacted the player’s career.

When Rangers paid a reported £7m to Liverpool to sign the now 26-year-old in 2019 it came with an expectation of more than three goals a season. Yet that is what Ryan Kent has contributed this campaign. And the last.

Burnley and Vincent Kompany represent an exciting option for Ryan Kent to go test himself in the Premier League and it’s hard to see the interest, which is growing arms and legs, pass the winger by.

Rangers fans falling out love

A lack of potency up top has been the difference between Rangers and Celtic and after five years in Glasgow, the Ibrox support has began to accept that Kent will never be able to deliver the kind of numbers the club needs.

It’s opened a friction between the Rangers support and Ryan Kent himself, something which drove Ross Wilson to Nottingham Forest and will likely drive the winger to Burnley.

Both are not stupid and like Wilson was before him, Kent be well aware of the mounting pressure on his shoulders amid the interest from down south.

The shortcomings have been their own; the fact Ryan Kent is set to leave for nothing is a poor indictment on Wilson’s squad management whilst the fact Kent has only scored more than 10 goals a season once for Rangers, during 55, a poor indictment on his end product.

Perhaps the relationship has come to its natural end but there is a sizeable tinge of frustration surrounding Ryan Kent’s Rangers’ stint and we’re pretty sure the player himself will be the first admit that he has not delivered enough at Ibrox.
