There has been plenty of talk around Nikola Katic possibly coming back to Rangers for a romantic return.
There were reports this week that Gers had in fact made a concrete offer for Katic, but they seemed to come from unfounded comments in the Swiss media.
It all stemmed from former Ibrox defender turned agent Craig Moore admitting he was a player that had ‘crossed his desk’ as being available during this window.
The Aussie put Katic to Rangers as a potential option and insisted he would he fit the profile the club were after amid their centre half shortage.
The player was said to want a Gers return and had made it his priority as he looked to get out of FC Zurich.
And it was then claimed Rangers had ‘made contact’ over Katic as a deal began to look more and more possible.
But it had all gone quiet until recent days which, as mentioned, didn’t seem all that concrete.

Gers had no interest in Nikola Katic return
Moore has now offered an update on the situation and reiterated that the 28-year-old was someone he presented to Rangers as an option.
But he admits there was no interest from Ibrox, with the club giving him a “swift no.”
“I try to be as honest and transparent as I possibly can.
“Katic is a player I presented to Rangers at the start of the window.
“Katic was a fans’ favourite, who did well at the club until he picked up his ACL injury.
“He then went to chase football elsewhere, I think originally in Croatia, and has continued to grow at Zurich like you say.
“Big, solid defender but there was no interest so I imagine at this stage there is still no interest otherwise I’d have had a call, which I haven’t.
“28, 6 foot 4 and loves to attack the ball.
“It is important in terms of both boxes with set pieces for and against and how important they are.
“It doesn’t look as if the situation was going to go any further because I got a very swift ‘not for us’.”
Was Katic holding out for Rangers?
The player himself may be gutted at the outcome as it appeared he may be holding out for a Rangers return.
It has been confirmed he wants to leave Zurich in January and he may have had his head turned by the Light Blues chatter.
His manager Ricardo Moniz said the defender is ‘picky’ about where he wants to go, telling Reprezentacija: “He is very picky. He has one drawback, his time is running out, and he doesn’t train.”
