Rangers are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements as the Ibrox injury curse strikes the club’s centre-back position.

Scotland international John Souttar and versatile Dutch defensive talent Neraysho Kasanwirjo have both suffered injury problems in recent weeks and have left the Gers desperately short.

With Robin Propper and Leon Balogun expected to step into centre-back in the meanwhile, reports have suggested Rangers are on the hunt for a new defender come January.

And now one potential Ibrox target has sent the Rangers transfer sleuths a’sleuthing by dropping a major Gers related hint on social media.

Rangers linked to another Morocco raid

Rangers have already enjoyed a bit of success signing players from Morocco this season with Hamza Igamane impressing at Ibrox in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old striker has been something of a revelation in Scotland as of late and as a result reports are claiming Igamane is a wanted man in the English Premier League.

Rangers have now been linked with a second raid on Moroccan football too, with the Gers tipped by reports in Morocco to move for Igamane’s old teammate Hatim Essaouabi.

It’s claimed that Rangers have enquired about FAR Rabat defender Hatim Essaouabi, who at 24-years-old could be the next Moroccan export to come to Scotland.

Hatim Essaouabi Rangers social media clue

Whilst those reports suggest Rangers could move in the summer, given the Ibrox side’s need for defensive reinforcements in January the transfer links have been taken with a pinch of salt.

But now Hatim Essaouabi has sent Rangers fans scrambling after it was discovered that the defender actually follows the Ibrox club on social media platform Instagram.

Whilst this isn’t much of a clue of anything, as we approach the January transfer window speculation is rife and this is enough to get the Rangers support talking.

Hatim Essaouabi may well just be following Rangers to keep up to date with his former teammate Hamza Igamane.

The Moroccan centre-back might’ve even just started keeping up with the club since being linked to Rangers over the last 24 hours.

But whatever the case Hatim Essaouabi remains an interesting profile for Gers fans as the club look to reinforce the centre-back position amid a spate of injury problems.
