Rangers don’t specifically need Danilo as soon as possible, it’s not like the last two seasons when forward were in short supply.
The biggest fear though is that another club comes in for the Brazilian striker as Michael Beale looks to get a deal tied up.
Encouragingly, speaking to The Rangers Review, Soccernews.nl’s Feyenoord writer Eimert Pruis, has claimed that Rangers are onto a winner with Danilo – if the transfer is completed.
There is one issue, that everyone is aware of, and that is the Dutch outfit’s lack of reinforcements.
Arnie Slot is said to be interested in Myron Boadu, who is worth a reported £14.5m, however, as yet, nothing has been confirmed.
As things stand, Santiago Gimenez is Feyenoord’s only fit striker and he is suspended for the first two Champions League qualifiers.
Rangers need patience needed for Danilo green light
So, how does this affect Rangers bid for Danilo:
“Feyenoord, at the moment, has a lot of money so they are in a position to say no but they need a replacement.
“We need a striker and Danilo would take up that position with Gimenez being suspended. Slot says for every player that goes he needs a better replacement.
“For that amount of money, I don’t think you’ll buy a better striker than Danilo.”
Rangers have agreed a deal with Danilo with a medical scheduled but everything is dependent on them getting reinforcements in.
Talks of an imminent deal could be premature though if Slot decides that he wants Danilo to lead the line in their Champions League qualifiers rather than hoping that a new signing is up to speed and can adjust straight away.
Pruis was full of praise for Danilo though in terms of what he would bring to Rangers.
Given that Rangers are shopping on a budget, it is also reassuring to find out that Danilo is as good a player as we can get, we just need Feyenoord to let him go now.
