Rangers transfer priority emerges as Danny Rohl to follow different direction compared to Russell Martin

Rangers are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as Danny Rohl will be backed by the American owners.

Rohl was given four new signings in January, and he has proven that he deserves the backing from the board with the Gers one point away from first place.

A number of players will be leaving Ibrox as well, and it is imperative that they are replaced with quality names.

Danny Rohl unlikely to put faith in the loan system like Russell Martin

According to the Scottish Sun, Rohl is not expected to put faith in the loan system as Russell Martin did.

The German wants to sign players who will be at Ibrox for more than one season, as he wants them to stay put after they have bought into his system.

A lot of times, the Gers have seen their loan players hit their stride towards the backend of seasons, but have not returned the following campaign for various reasons.

Rohl does not want that and is expected to target multiple defenders in the coming months.

That is because there is likely to be a defensive overhaul of the current defenders who are at Rangers.

For starters, Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga and Jayden Meghoma are all on loan and are expected to return to their parent clubs.

Rangers do want to sign Djiga permanently, but Wolves are pricing them out of a deal.

Also, James Tavernier could end up leaving, which would see four first-team defenders no longer at the club ahead of next season.

Rangers have already begun their summer transfer plans

One defender who is high on Rangers’ priority list is Dundee ace Luke Graham.

Work has begun on bringing him to Ibrox, not only has he been scouted on numerous occasions, but personal terms have also been agreed.

It is now up to the two clubs to agree on a transfer fee, but there is no rush to make that happen as the window does not open until June.

Luca Stephenson has also been eyed as a potential replacement for Tavernier.

Stephenson has done well at Dundee United on loan this season, and Liverpool could sell him in the summer.
