Rangers fans have been through the mill in this transfer window already.
Manager Philippe Clement frayed nerves over the weekend when he hinted towards a difference in transfer ‘expectations’ with the Ibrox board.
It comes with Rangers losing eight senior players in the last 12 months at the end of their contracts, with not a penny recouped as the club are tasked with upgrading them.
The suggestion that Rangers need to sell before they can buy is also a source of huge frustration, with the Champions League qualifiers looming large.
But as Rangers step up the hunt for experience this summer, the club have turned their attentions to one former Arsenal target whose £55m release clause highlights his technical quality.

Rangers target Sevilla star Jordan
As Rangers fans wait on the transfer wheel turning, reports of Gers interest in Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan certainly turned heads this week.
The 30-year-old Spanish midfield technician has played at the highest level with the La Liga club, winning two Europa League trophies and enjoying forays in the Champions League.
Having spent the last five years at the Roman Sanchez Pizjuán, Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta has claimed that Jordan’s time is up in Spain.
Couple this with Sevilla dropping Jordan for their first pre-season friendly of the season – with the Spaniards also moving for the likes of Sambi Lokonga and Saul Niguez already this window – and the ex-Éibar star’s future is up in the air.
According to leading transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rangers had an initial loan approach rebuffed with Sevilla demanding 100% of Joan Jordan’s 70k per week wage packet is paid.
Reports elsewhere have since dropped that total down to 50% (£35k per week), with Rangers reportedly facing Jordan competition in Greece as they ready a second offer.
Spanish midfielder wanted by Arsenal
As a result of these ambitious links, Rangers fans have been sent YouTubing and Googling their way through Jordan’s playing history.
But fans will note some rather intriguing interest from Arsenal and Mikel Arteta in 2021, as Jordan’s technical performances in Spain attracted eyes from England.
According to Goal, Arsenal were targeting Jordan back in the January of 2021 with the midfielder boasting a substantial £55m release clause in his contract.
Whilst the apparent interest never materialised, the valuation Sevilla attached to Jordan and the fact Arsenal were mulling over a move is a testament to the player’s ability.
Jordan might’ve found himself surplus to requirements at a Sevilla side who finished mid-table in Spain last season.
But the 6ft midfielder has an impressive profile and if Rangers can get a move over the line, it’s a real statement of the club’s seriousness across multiple competitions next season.
The question will remain over Sevilla’s eagerness to move the midfielder on however, with Jordan having it all to prove if he does move to Glasgow.
