Rabbi Matondo had plenty of options for where to end up after leaving Rangers, but had seemed to settle on Coventry.
Gers look set to make a £3million loss on Matondo after he chose the Sky Blues on a loan with an option to buy in the summer.
He had further interest in the Championship as well as in Italy after Rangers News told how the club were ready to sell the winger.
Matondo has never really been able to command regular first-team football at Ibrox despite showing glimpses of what he can do, none more so that an exquisite strike in the 3-3 derby against Celtic.
He started this season looking like he could get a run at things, with a double and two assists during the 6-0 thumping of Ross County at Hampden.
But, as it so often has during his three years here, injury unfortunately struck, and he has struggled to get back in.

Rabbi Matondo Rangers exit for Coventry stalls
It was reported yesterday that Matondo was all set to join the Championship side, with the Coventry Telegraph reporting it was an initial loan with a purchase option for £2m.
It mean the pacey wide man was set to become the first Coventry signing of Frank Lampard, previously under consideration for the Rangers job.
Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday had also been linked, along with Torino and Lecce, but Lampard’s side had appeared to have won the race.
However, the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath is now claiming the deal has stalled with bonuses and add-ons the sticking point.
He said: “Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has been in talks over a move to Coventry City but negotiations have stalled over bonus payments/add-ons, with work to do to get deal completed.”
Other Rangers outgoings
Matondo is not the only player who could be saying goodbye to Ibrox this month, with Cyriel Dessers, Kieran Dowell, Tom Lawrence and Leon King all candidates too.
Alex Lowry has already joined Wycombe on a permanent deal and King could follow him out the door, but that is likely to be a loan.
Dessers has now reportedly been offered to Monza with Cagliari and Leganes interested but struggling to come up with the funds for the permanent deal Gers want.
Dowell was told along with Matondo that he could leave, while Lawrence is wanted by clubs in England and Turkey.
