Interest in Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers seems to be growing by the day.
There has been a belief the Nigerian striker may look to move on from Ibrox in the January transfer window with game time proving harder to come by thanks to the emergence of Hamza Igamane and Danilo’s improving fitness.
Dessers has gone from first pick to third despite being the club’s top scorer and Kris Boyd recently said he feared the Gers star would “throw the toys out the pram“.
The 30-year-old always seems to have kept a level head but may find himself relegated back to the bench despite scoring a Scottish Cup hat-trick against Fraserburgh.
Dessers previously admitted he would need to talk with Rangers about plans for the future amid the change in his squad status.
He has had plenty of interest in his services and Serie A side Cagliari reportedly had him as their top target, though were struggling to raise the funds for a permanent deal.
It was a similar story for Leganes in La Liga with the Spaniards looking for a loan due to lack of funds but the Light Blues insisting on a permanent.
So, despite all of that interest, options may have been starting to run out.
Cyriel Dessers ‘offered’ to Monza
It is now being reported that Dessers has been offered to another Serie A side, bottom-of-the-league Monza.
Italian sports journalist Nicolò Schira claims the Nigerian is ready to leave Glasgow and has been put to the Italian strugglers.
He said: “Cyriel Dessers is ready to leave Rangers FC and has been offered to Monza.”
Dessers has experience in the top flight in Italy, being signed from Cremonese by Rangers for £4.5million, having just been relegated in his last season with them.
Empoli were another of the clubs linked in this window.
Philippe Clement held talks with Dessers
Rangers manager Philippe Clement insists he talks regularly with the player about his future.
He said: “We have discussions every day. No, not every day, that’s not true, but at least every week. We talk all the time.
“I think Cyriel shows that he has a desire to do everything for this club. And of course, he wants to play every game.
“It’s then showing that you’re the best. That’s working at Rangers, he knows that also really well. So that’s the situation.”
