Manchester United defender Alvaro Fernandez has been given the Benfica Here We Go treatment from Fabrizio Romano as Rangers take a step closer to David Jurasek.

The catchphrase is synonymous with Italian journalist Romano, who uses it when he’s certain a deal is nearing completion and it looks like Benfica have got their man.

Taking to X, Romano claims the personal terms of the deal have been agreed with Manchester United set to send the Spanish left-back to the Estadio de Luz until the end of the season.

The transfer includes an option-to-buy clause and Rangers fans will have one eye on the Alvaro Fernandez situation given fresh links to Benfica left-back David Jurasek.

Fernandez, 20, has spent the first half of the season on loan at La Liga club Granada.

Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica, David Jurasek to Rangers?

Rangers links to David Jurasek first appeared in an exclusive report from HITC and journalist Graeme Bailey, who were updating on Alvaro Fernandez’s Manchester United situation.

Claiming that the option-to-buy deal is worth £8.5m, the report also states that Rangers are looking at a potential Ibrox loan deal for Czech international Jurasek.

Signed in the summer from Slavia Prague in a reported £12m transfer, it hasn’t happened for Jurasek in Portugal and now added competition is coming into his position.

Whilst we don’t suspect Benfica will be writing off their substantial investment just yet, if reports are to believed the move for Alvaro Fernandez nudges Rangers closer to signing David Jurasek.

Those initial reports have since been backed up in Portugal, with A Bola claiming Rangers face stiff opposition for the signature of the 23-year-old.

Left-back transfer dominoes start to fall

Rangers have been linked with a left-back transfer move for what feels like the entire transfer window amid reports of substantial upheaval in the squad.

Whilst loyal full-back Borna Barisic doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, the situation around Ridvan Yilmaz continues to perplex.

Despite reports strongly linking the Turkish international with a loan switch to Serie A and Verona, Ridvan started the club’s mid-season friendly defeat to Hertha Berlin.

There are several moving cogs in this entire transfer saga with Marseille said to be edging closer to Verona left-back Josh Doig, therefore opening a space for Ridvan Yilmaz in the Italian club’s squad.

With one domino set to fall in Alvaro Fernandez’s transfer to Benfica, Al-Hilal’s £17m move for Marseille left-back Renan Lodi looks like the next crucial piece to tumble.
