A fresh local report coming out of Portugal has backed up the suggestion Rangers are interested in signing Benfica left-back David Jurasek.
Rangers are believed to be in the hunt for a new left-back option for their squad amid widespread exit reporting surrounding Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz.
Despite starting the mid-season friendly defeat to Hertha Berlin, Yilmaz has been strongly linked with a loan move to Serie A side Verona.
And now it’s being claimed by multiple sources that Rangers are eyeing a loan transfer of their own for Benfica star David Jurasek.
Rangers linked to David Jurasek
Reports originated in HITC where journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively revealed that Rangers are looking at a move for David Jurasek.
The three-times capped Czech left-back, 23, joined Benfica in a £12m (€14m) deal from Slavia Prague in the summer but so far he has made only six league appearances under manager Roger Schmidt.
Benfica are also said to boast a quite remarkable €80m (£69m) release clause over the defender.
Now, it’s being claimed that the Portuguese giants are closing in on a loan-to-buy move for Alvaro Fernandez from Manchester United.
With a reported £8.6m option being written into that deal, should it go through then theoretically it would open the door to Rangers securing a temporary switch for David Jurasek.
But now Rangers’ apparent interest in the left-back is also being reported in Portugal as Ibrox fans start turning their heads towards the Czech star.
Plenty of interest in Benfica left-back
A report in Portuguese outlet A Bola has claimed that Rangers are interested in signing David Jurasek.
It also claims that Ligue 1 side Marseille – who now appear to be closing in on Verona left-back Josh Doig – were also interested in signing the Czech left-back.
Rangers, who have apparently made their interest known to Benfica, will now wait on the Alvaro Fernandez domino to fall before making their move.

Nothing is said and done as things stand however, with Rangers not the only side tailing Jurasek, who comes with a sizeable reputation.
It’s all getting very interesting in the left-back berth in Glasgow but before anything can start happening, one Brazilian star’s £17m switch to Saudi looks a key domino which has to fall first.
