Rangers recruitment is currently on pause with a list of potential targets well known to the support.

There has been a lot of talk, however, other than the five new faces, there hasn’t been enough movement in or out of the squad

Philippe Clement knows that he has to rebuild the squad and that he has to sell players to make room for potential replacements

At the beginning of the window, it seemed certain that Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers were set to leave Ibrox, however, they are both still at the club.

Rangers given Albion Rrahmani boost after injury blow

The player who seemed to have been identified to replace the two strikers is Albion Rrahmani with Rangers initially said to be “leading the chase” for the 19-goal forward

The 23-year old looked crestfallen at the weekend when he limped off injured for Rapid Bucharest but his club has given a positive update as reported by Sport Ro

“Following the specialized analyzes carried out today, it turned out that there are no injuries at the bone level or at the fracture level. The wound is only on the skin and muscle.

“Thus, we hope to have Albion back to training as soon as possible.”

Rangers have been told that it will take a fee in the region of £4.2m to secure the services of the Kosovan international which makes it imperative for there to be a sale or two in the forward line first.

As seen against Man Utd, Dessers just isn’t suited to a fast-paced style of play and was as much a hindrance as a help in the final third.

That he managed to turn a promising attack into a goal against with a loose pass summed up his afternoon in the capital.

Rangers hands tied as they wait for Rrahmani

Speaking to Rangers News, Romanian journalist Emmanuel Rosu explained where Rrahmani would be an entirely different proposition

“Rhamani is a fox, a very good striker with big potential.

“If Rangers pay the money, they can have him, Rapid want £5m for him.

At 6ft 2inches tall, Rrahmani also has the physical presence needed to make a difference.

Rangers number nine must be capable of playing in different systems depending on the opposition.

Domestically, they have to be able to dominate opposition defenders and score goals.

In Europe, being able to hold the ball up and link play is more important, added to having the composure to take the one chance that might come their way.

This isn’t Dessers.

It could be Rrahmani, and Rangers shouldn’t be put off by the striker suffering a minor knock that can be iced and strapped up in time for Champions League qualifiers.
