Albion Rrahmani leaves pitch in tears just hours after Rangers told solid asking price

Rangers need more firepower with the club’s lacklustre striker options failing to inspire this pre-season.

The Gers support are beginning to get a little sick and tired of the same old faces producing the same old results and in the final third we’re unarguably worse off this season than we were last.

Gulp.

Abdallah Sima is too expensive, the expectations around Hamza Igamane have been tempered, and Danilo has barely kicked a ball in seven months.

Cyriel Dessers looks back to his uncertain best this pre-season too.

As Rangers draw a blank in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, wingers like Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright clearly just won’t cut it either.

Now, one high-profile reported Rangers striker option has just left the pitch in tears after sustaining what looks like a serious injury.

And all after Rangers were finally given a solid asking price for the hitman.

Rrahmani leaves Rapid pitch in tears

Albion Rrahmani has been amongst the popular striker options for Rangers fans this summer.

Netting 19 times for Rapid Bucharest last season, the Kosovar hitman has reportedly turned heads across Europe with a number of top clubs linked to his services.

But that might all be about to change for Rangers-linked Rrahmani after images appeared of the 24-year-old hobbling off the park for Rapid.

Now managed by Neil Lennon, the Bucharest club have been dealt both a playing and transfer blow by what is being reported as a potentially serious injury.

Leaving the park in tears, the striker had opened the scoring in Rapid’s first Superliga home clash of the season against CFR Cluj in Bucharest.

Subbed off around the 70 minute mark, Rangers fans will await a clearer update on the striker but it’s Rrahmani’s second serious injury in the space of a year.

Last season the striker missed two months of the campaign between October and December due to an ankle injury.

Now we’re not ones to tempt fate, but when you look at Albion Rramani’s recent injury record no wonder he’s a Rangers target.

The Ibrox side have shown a propensity for signing crocks over the last three or so years and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the transfer interest ramp up now the striker has left the pitch in tears.

Seriously though, Rangers’ injury record is enough to make even rival fans baulk with the club’s inability to get it right in the medical department contributing to an inability to get it right on the park.

Whilst Albion Rrahmani has previously pledged his commitment to Rapid Bucharest, this was one striker link fans had been watching closely heading into the remaining month or so of the window.

The injury situation also comes just hours after Rapid Bucharest president Viorel Moldovan named the club’s asking price for the attacker.

As quoted by Fanatik, Moldovan said: “He can never leave for less than €5m (£4.2m), the minimum amount would be over €5m.”

Perhaps this is one player Rangers have been waiting to raise funds for. Perhaps via the sale of Cyriel Dessers.

But should the latest injury problem threaten to keep Rrahmani out for any length of time, we suspect the Ibrox side will be looking elsewhere.
