Rangers last two signings added a bit more quality for Philippe Clement to select with Robin Propper and Vaclav Cerny arriving.

The manager has pleaded for patience with a few weeks still left of the transfer window, however, depth is still needed as well as individuals who could potentially make a difference at Ibrox

One player who has been linked and who is available immediately is Tyrese Campbell who Rangers were close to signing when Steven Gerrard was in charge

The Light Blues have been mentioned again this summer as potential suitors as the 24-year old looks for a new club.

The latest reports have suggested that Sheffield United are close to agreeing a deal with the former Stoke City striker and Man City academy graduate, according to Alan Nixon of The Sun.

Several sides in the Championship are also chasing the forward’s signature with Swanse City boss Luke Williams clearly a fan:

“I know the player, most Championship coaches are going to be a big fan of the player. But he also has some very delicate circumstances at the moment that we need to be respectful of, so I think it’s best not to talk about that too much at the moment.”

Philippe Clement currently has three strikers in his squad in Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Hamza Igamane.

Dessers is the man with the shirt just now with Danilo not even making it off the bench against Hearts or Dynamo Kyiv.

Sharpness will still be an issue for the Brazilian but he needs more minutes if he is going to get back to his best form.

Igamane is now training with the first-team squad and is a step closer to playing too which will help to solve an issue from the last few seasons.

Rangers still need more depth despite Campbell blow

Having only one fit striker is never the way forward for teams hoping to compete in four competitions for much of the season.

Between Alfredo Morelos, Antonio Colak and now Cyriel Dessers, there simply hasn’t been enough firepower with just one senior number nine constantly available for selection and scoring goals.

Successful Rangers teams of the past have always had a group of strikers who could be rotated or fit into different systems to face different opponents.

Not many have been linked this summer and Campbell’s name could well have resurfaced purely due to the previous connection that the player himself admitted was concrete.

However, it looks like, again, the opportunity to play for Rangers isn’t going to come to fruition.
