Rangers have been linked with an exciting signing in Mohamed Diomande as the influence of Nils Koppen begins to take shape.

The FC Nordsjaelland midfielder has been lighting up Danish football and he has exactly the right type of profile that Gers boss Philippe Clement should be looking for in his squad.

But, what type of player would Rangers be getting in Mohamed Diomande, if he passes his medical, when compared to others across the top leagues in Europe.

Rangers eye their version of Jorginho in Mohamed Diomande

The Superliga isn’t readily available on UK television, however, there are plenty of YouTube videos of the 22-year old if you want to see what he looks like in the flesh.

Most players can look good in clips but Diomande draws a similar comparison with a World Cup winner and former top three Ballon d”Or star.

Playing alongside N’golo Kante, Italy international Jorginho formed one of the strongest midfield pairings of its time.

It was the axis for multiple trophies to be won by Chelsea and it was in a similar system to the one that Philippe Clement is trying to implement at Rangers with Mohamed Diomande now set to play a key role.

John Lundstram appears to be the manager’s first choice following the comments after the 4-1 win over Dumbarton about a potential new contract.

So, what he needs is help alongside him.

Nicolas Raskin is looking like he is close to his best but, with Ryan Jack out of contract in the summer, Rangers need more quality and quality that is going to be available more often.

Using DataMB’s comparison tool, Diomande is a younger version of Jorginho other than not making as many progressive passes, however, what he does do is make more key passes – an acceptable pay-off.

Comparisons to Glen Kamara have already been made with the big difference being Diomande’s more aggressive passing range, the Finland international was too quick to pass the buck even though he had the ability in and around the box.

It’s a link that has caught the imagination of Rangers fans and, according to reports, Mohamed Diomande could well be on his way to being signing number two of this transfer window.
