First the question was always about whether or not Alfredo Morelos should be sold, then it was whether or not he should be offered a new contract, now, it is should Rangers sign him for a second time?
The club has already said that there is no interest in the enigmatic Colombian following his release from Santos but that won’t stop the speculation.
Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard, former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew turned pundit has claimed that Alfredo Morelos would be a waste of money for Rangers and that he deserved the hype.

Alfredo Morelos wouldn’t be a good fit for Rangers
In fairness to Mulgrew, when you look at the former Ibrox hero’s record against Dundee United, which is when he would have played against the pundit, it isn’t anything to write home about.
One goal and one assist in eight appearances to be precise.
No wonder Mulgrew doesn’t rate him:
“I never seen it in Morelos to be honest with you.
“I didn’t play against him at his pomp, when I played against him, the last couple of seasons.
“Even when I played against him, he had a good run in Europe I thought.
“It might just have been the games I saw him but I never saw the hype with Morelos, ever.
“And, when I played against him, I felt he was lazy and disinterested.”
The description is certainly one that fits his last year at Rangers and most of his second last too.
But to say that he was “never” a player worthy of being hyped up is a bit of a reach.
You don’t score 124 goals and create 58 assists in 269 appearances if you don’t have something about you.
Remember, Rangers did actually turn down an offer of £16.25m for El Buffalo from Lille when he was firing on all cylinders.
Is he that player now?
No.
Will he ever be that player again?
Probably not.
But it is revisionist from Mulgrew to say that Alfredo Morelos isn’t one of the best players that the Scottish league has seen in recent years.
One thing I do agree with though, is that current Rangers manager Philippe Clement should steer well clear.
Yes, the squad is ravaged with injuries, but the last thing we need is an unfit and out of form striker to add to the medical team’s already busy schedule.
