Rangers transfer update as Heart and Hand give clarity on striker speculation

There were some who felt that Alfredo Morelos should never have been released as a Rangers player and who, with the summer acquisitions struggling, felt that a return should be made.

When the 27-year old Colombian’s release clause at Santos was revealed, this only made the clamour for a January move even louder.

With Alfredo Morelos now a free agent, Rangers have confirmed their position on re-signing the enigmatic striker through the Heart and Hand podcast.

Alfredo Morelos return to Rangers clarified

In a busy pre-match build up, David Edgar has obviously been able to catch someone’s ear behind the scenes when posting on X amid recent speculation.

“I’m told rumours about Morelos are untrue. Club not interested.”

And just like that, the hopes and dreams of thousands have been shattered!

Well, maybe that is being a bit dramatic but there is an element off the support that would have loved to see the famous knee slide make a return to the Ibrox pitch.

Unfortunately, there just doesn’t seem to be room in Philippe Clement’s Rangers squad for Alfredo Morelos as he looks for more robust and dynamic players.

With just over 75 minutes of game time since leaving Glasgow, it’s safe to say that the grass has definitely not been greener on the other side for someone who was once valued at £20m by the club.

Cyriel Dessers maybe had a slow start and Kemar Roofe is hardly reliable in terms of availability but there are other options if the Gers gaffer got desperate.

Alfredo Morelos will still be looking for big money, he wouldn’t accept some sort of fanciful pay-as-you-play deal at Rangers and moved on for a reason.

What also has to be remembered is that, for all his Europa League exploits, we didn’t exactly clean up when it comes to silverware domestically with him leading the line.

The club have moved on from El Bufalo, time for the fans to too.
