Benfica winger Tiago Gouveia has the luxury of being the latest wide attacker being linked to Rangers.
The Gers are known to be on the hunt for a versatile forward type who can play across the front and contribute goals and assists.
After missing out on Brest-bound Abdallah Sima, Benfica star Tiago Gouveia is one name which has been mentioned by the press in Portugal.
But after the Ligo Portugal’s latest round of fixtures, Benfica have been rocked by a shoulder injury to Gouveia which they’re praying doesn’t keep him out for a substantial length of time.

Benfica rocked by Tiago Gouveia injury blow
Rangers fans had been building up to disappointment with regards Tiago Gouveia since the links first appeared.
The Portuguese winger, 23, has been the subject of routine exit reporting all summer long due to the uncertainty of his first-team place in the Benfica squad.
But following the high-profile exit of David Neres to Napoli, Gouveia is in line for a promotion, even if he didn’t start the weekend’s clash with Estrela Amadora.
Coming off the bench after an injury to Danish utility man Fredrik Aursnes, Benfica were handed a double injury blow when Tiago Gouveia had to go off later in the game
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Gouveia has suffered the anterior dislocation of the right-shoulder in a knock which is worrying the club’s manager Roger Schmidt.
“It’s never good,” said the German coach. “I hope it’s not serious.”
Rangers transfer attentions to shift?
There were a number of factors that made a Rangers switch for Tiago Gouveia unlikely this summer.
Rangers had been linked alongside the likes of Villarreal and Anderlecht but with the price tag attached to the winger somewhere around £7m, a switch was always ambitious.
Throw in the exit of David Neres alongside the injury and suddenly the odds have shortened dramatically on any transfer to Rangers.
But that doesn’t mean Rangers will give up when it comes to reinforcing this position on the pitch.
There have been a number of wide en linked to Rangers this summer, with the likes of Gonçalo Borges, Josip Brekalo and Morgan Whittaker topping the list.
Plymouth attacker Whittaker also stole the headlines this weekend with a stunning long-range goal in the English Championship.
The wide position is one of four positions being targeted by Rangers as Philippe Clement ramps up a ‘busy’ end to the window.
