As Rangers are linked to a trio of players in South America, news on the transfer “priority” of Director of Recruitment Nils Koppen appears to have some truth.
The Belgian scout has joined the Rangers recruitment board with the intention of ramping up the club’s stuttering player trading model.
The Gers have failed to get it right consistently enough in this regard and – save for somewhat lucking out on some big money moves – the club can’t say it’s got a fully functioning model in place.
You only need to look at the £21m given to Michael Beale to spend in the summer.
Rangers transfer news coming out of South America
Reputable Rangers journalist Chris Jack has been speaking about the appointment of Koppen recently and claimed that the South American and European markets are “priority areas” as the club looks to recruit top talent.
And those claims have been backed up by the latest transfer news surrounding Rangers and potential interest in three Latin American stars.
Here are names who’ve been linked to Rangers from South America in this window as the Ibrox club looks to bolster its squad.

Jhon Arias
Firstly, Rangers were mentioned alongside Colombian forward Jhon Arias, who turns out for Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense.
The winger is however highly-rated by the Brazilian side and after their continental cup win his price is likely to have skyrocketed.
Reportedly valued at north of £10m, 26-year-old Arias is not likely to be short of suitors come the summer window.
Oscar Zambrano
Then there were links to Ecuadorean midfielder Oscar Zambrano, a highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder whose also been mentioned alongside several teams in the Premier League.
Again, price tag could be an issue, but the mention of Rangers alongside the Quito star suggests an improved scouting presence in South America.
Bournemouth and Luton are said to be firmly in the hunt as Premier League clubs look to roll the dice to potentially secure the next Moises Caicedo.
Luca Langoni
Last but by no means least, Rangers have also been linked to Argentine winger Luca Langoni, who currently turns out for Boca Juniors.
Again, the price tag attached to the 21-year-old might make a Rangers move look a little ambitious but it certainly appears that the Gers’ interest was legitimate here.
An exciting wide player, we don’t suspect this will be the last time we hear of this link with the right side of attack an area of sizeable concern at Ibrox for as long as we can remember.
That’s even if Fulham, OGC Nice, and Sevilla have already been linked.
