Rangers recruitment is well underway for January with Philippe Clement looking to add quality, not quantity to his squad.
Michy Batshuayi has the quality but it looks like he won’t be joining after all, it doesn’t take a new scouting and analysis structure to work out that he would bring exactly what we need.
In recent years, there has been a criticism that too many players have been signed from England’s lower leagues but Rangers, with Philippe Clement at the helm, could be about to change all that, as reported by Chris Jack of The Rangers Review.

Rangers recruitment to change direction under Philippe Clement
Nils Koppen has been behind his desk at Auchenhowie for a week now and it is his contacts and network around the globe that could see new, untapped markets, explored by the club.
Detailing what the plan is for this transfer window, Jack revealed that a new approach is on the way:
“Several targets have been identified for each of the profiles that Clement has intimated and Koppen’s knowledge of the global game will prove advantageous as Rangers seek to move into previously untapped markets as well as ensuring they are in a position to recruit the best of British.
“Mainland Europe and South America remain priority areas for consideration, while work will be done in America, Scandinavia and the Far East.”
Players from South America and Asia in particular are commonly cheaper in terms of the wage bill than players from mainland Europe.
Especially from England.
The Premier League and Championship is awash with money which means that transfer fees and wages have spiralled.
Rangers might be able to get players in on Bosman’s from down south but as our accounts show, it can be expensive.
Jack Butland, John Lundstram and Kieran Dowell are not playing at Ibrox out of the goodness of their hearts.
There are bargains to be had around the globe and it looks like Rangers have finally decided to join the world of modern football to give Philippe Clement the best chance of success.
